August Mystic
Sunlight flooded through the open window
it filled every room till I swam in light and
had to seek refuge in a troll’s shady tavern.
Towards evening the light surged back to
the horizon, left my landscape to gasp alone
in a night that had eradicated tall mountains;
till moon pushed aside clouds and bathed
skeletal trees and dead flowers in layers of
silver that dripped and became shiny lakes.
