Strange birds

Strange Birds

The ladies of the night, in Puerto Limon,
when out in the glare of the day, look
like colourful bird lost and blinded by
the light; spat on by drab housewives
who call them “Putas.”

Ignored by men who looks another way;
just in case they are recognized, yet pay
for a visit when night is deep; frightened
birds, flapping wings, not welcome here,
wait for darkness and frolicsome fun.
