Fortunate Jim
Jim, the cook, son of a lord it was rumoured,
the Polish master mariner, Joseph, said Jim
was lucky man, brought fair wind and weather,
wanted him on his ship sailing to the Far East
and up festering rivers. But in warm Singapore
Jim had an attack of epiphany, saw everything
so clearly that he borrowed a typewriter from
the Anglican vicar, and wrote a novel. Joseph,
Polish mariner, not only lost his cook, he also
lost his ship up Mekong River.
