The bother

The Bother.

I didn’t know she had died, my half sister,
Her funeral had been a sad affair, few had
Bothered to turn up, but when it was known
She had left some money, she suddenly had
A large family clamoring for their share of
The cash; I sit here with modest check I don’t
Want nor deserve, “take the money, a small
Voice urges it will only go to them.” Guilt,
Regrets, greed and need, this is a battle I don’t
Want. Like me she had no children, there is
An orphanage, near here, a good deed if…on
The other hand I have to see a dentist, haven’t
Been to one for ten years; I also need new tires
For the car
