upstairs neighbour

Upstairs Neighbours

How loquacious
the sparrows on the roof are,
wake me up before six
in the morning, inane
arguing about property rights,
their nests are
not investments,
but homes;
and never do
they pay me any rent.
Yet, I do defend them
against the killer moggy,
as I would rather have ten birds up
there, than a cat on hot roof tiles.
