Senryu
The day is just hot
Thirsty soil and cruel sun
Breeze hides in a cave
Zephyr blows on sea
Cools sun-glittering surface
Beach is in agony,
Galloping sea mares
Haste towards the shore
And bathers retreat
Sparrows fall off twigs
Leafless trees have no shadows
Underneath snakes wait
Frothing stallions
Thunderous gallop to shore
Ridden by surfers
