Big City Night

Saw a painting once, a man in a brown suit
and hat, sat by the counter, in a café eating
a late night meal; the man looked city lonely
rented room, neon light outside his window
Steamed up café window shadowy figures
moving slowly, this misty evening when
traffic is subdued, and it’s my turn to eat
a late meal and leaf through a newspapers
a guest left behind before going to his rented
room looking out of his window seeing
a neon light that reflects itself on wet asphalt
to it’s run over by a yellow cab.
