Tanka (Self Portrait)
Tanned, aged face
Narrow, autocratic lips
Faded blue eyes
A hardening of sentiment
I am a powerless tyrant.
Tanka
Saddam Hussein
Hanged a thousand times
Hard dark eyes
Taunted by the small people
Died as he lived, no regrets.
